The track takes a more urban approach to presenting the originally folky sounding song. Produced by Mike Posner himself, his vocals change the feeling of the single all together with his high but raspy voice.

I love the original and I love this remix as well. I can’t quite decide which I like better though. You be the judge.

Dahlia, formerly known as Kat Hue, has an interesting story. While most artists boast about their journey from rags-to-riches Kat tells her journey of riches-to-rags. ‘Gangsta‘ is a dark, emotional song that captures this struggle of falling from the top.

I haven’t heard much else from her yet but I can say that Kat definitely has what it takes to be the new talent in the new year. Based on this song the girl’s got soul and realness that the music industry eats up.

With a hard hitting bass later on in the song and a simple piano scheme, the song has a perfect balance of intensity and peacefulness. I’m more than happy that Alicia is finally back making music again. Her soulfulness and humility is the exact reason why she will always be compared to the greatest of greats. Well, look no further. “Flying Overseas” by Theophilus London is absolutely awesome. His sound is a mixture of sorts, new age meets soul. His rap is strong, extremely powerful, kind of has the feeling of Kid Kudi. But the chorus is incredibly soft, sweet, it’s a contrast that works far too well. Songwriter Claude Kelly has released a new R&B tune, but this time he is the singer. “Foundations” is a mix of the soulful beats and percussion. Claude got his first big break writing the song “Daddy’s Little Girl” by Frankie J back in 2006. Now, he has written songs for many different artists that have hit number #1 on the billboards charts. He wrote “Circus” by Britney Spears, “In My Head” by Jason Derülo, Fefe Dobson’s newest single “Stutterin” and many more.

Last weekend was the NXNE festival in Toronto, Canada for music and film lovers. Many came out to the various venues around the Toronto Downtown area.

Canadian singer, Dane Hartsell got the crowd bopping their heads to the sweet sounds of rock, R&B, and soul at the Gladstone Hotel Saturday night. The music was absolutely awesome. His band of all females showed such great talent and skills, as they rocked out hard on the drums, bass and guitars. Dane showed off his soulful, pitch-perfect vocals which got the crowd cheering and wanting more. Hartsell is a truly talented and gifted musician to watch out for! His yet to be released debut album will have emotional ballads and energetic anthems. He has his own unique music style, but cites his influences as Van Morrison, Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, Supertramp, and Bob Marley. You can check him out on myspace or twitter.
