Vampire Diaries’ second episode of season four premiered last night, and was it ever shocking! Opening with a cute scene of Elena and Stefan, they are seen relaxing outside. What viewers realize is that Stefan is trying to train Elena to only feed from animals, thus not consuming human blood. He thinks she is strong enough to withstand the temptations of human blood, and can pass the whole bloodlust phase.

As the episode progresses, Elena is seen to be very sick, throwing up all the blood she consumed. She can’t stomach any of the blood, which is not good for her health. Damon, Stefan’s brother who also happens to be in love with Elena, helps her, and she sucks blood from him. This triangle of love within the series is what makes it so popular (and also makes women very envious of Elena actress Nina Dobrev).

A new character, April Young, is introduced in this episode. Her father was the pastor who died last episode, and it is also said that Elena used to babysit her when she was young. Also, a mystery hunter comes forward who causes lots of drama in Mystic Falls, for example shooting Tyler Lockwood twice! He healed both times, but a vengeance stirs with Tyler, who wants to kill him.

At the end of the episode, they have a mock funeral for all those that have died in their lives. Lanterns are lit as a symbol of their memories for them. They want to let go of the grieving and move forward with their lives. The most touching part is when Damon is seen visiting Alaric’s burial site, his best friend in the previous season, who died. He misses him a lot and this shows that Damon still does have human feelings.

Who is this mystery hunter and what does he want with Mystic Falls?

And will Elena finally be able to stomach blood?

And how about getting to know why half the town council died in an “accident”?
