With the recent release of the first part of their album trilogy titled ¡Uno!, it would only be natural that Green Day and frontman Billie Joe Armstrong would be making headlines. But, probably not in this way.
A few days ago, we shared with you guys on Facebook a video of Armstrong‘s meltdown during the iHeartRadio Music Festival in which he exclaimed his disbelief in his band’s set being cut down short. “Oh fuck this shit. I’m gonna play a fucking new song. Fuck this shit. Give me a fucking break. One minute left. You’re gonna give me one fucking minute?” the singer had shouted. He continued by saying, “Let me tell you something, I’ve been around since 19-fucking-8. And you’re gonna give me one fucking minute? You’ve gotta be fucking kidding me! You’re fucking kidding me. What the fuck! I’m not fucking Justin Bieber, you motherfuckers. ”
Things aren’t looking any better for Armstrong, however, as it has been recently reported that the lead singer of Green Day has checked into rehab due to substance abuse. In addition, an announcement on the band’s official website revealed the truth behind the shorting of the band’s set during the festival: “Billie Joe is seeking treatment for substance abuse. We would like everyone to know that our set was not cut short by Clear Channel and to apologize to those we offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas.”
This is definitely disappointing news to Green Day BestFans out there and to make matters worse, any promotional appearances that the band was scheduled to make for their upcoming album have been postponed. We can only hope that any future news regarding Green Day is good news.
