Bob Birch, best known for being the bassist in Elton John’s band, was found dead today, apparently as a result of suicide, at the age of 56. Los Angeles police located his body around 1 am, and are investigating the situation. He’d been a member of John’s band since 1992, when the previous bassist quit. He had also performed with a number of high-profile artists, including Billy Joel and Ray Charles.
