The weather’s been ridiculously hot lately, and we care about your well-being. Here’s four synth-heavy tracks to provide some sweet relief to your scorched eardrums:
Washed Out - “Feel It All Around”
Ernest Greene’s brand of music is called “chillwave” for good reason – “Feel It All Around” slides straight off of his 2009 debut, Life of Leisure. If audio files could be physical landscapes, “Feel It All Around” is as crisp and cool as an ocean wave. Synths glisten like rays of sun on the water, and the vocals are as smooth as can be. A tall glass of water, in audio form:
Kuedo - “Salt Lake Cuts”
If you’re any bit of an anglophile like we are, you might have heard “Salt Lake Cuts” on last season’s “Frankie” episode of the UK series Skins. “Salt Lake Cuts” is chill, but just a little bit badass, rolling along with a thumping bass line and sparkling synths. Produced by one half of the British dubstep duo Vex’d, one listen’s enough to get you to subscribe to the cruising cool of this track:
Neon Indian - “Fallout”
Possessing a groove straight from the 80′s, “Fallout” has a dazed, cool vibe. Held together by a simplistic beat, Alan Palomo‘s near whispered lyrics echo from behind the haze, while synths stream in like heavy fog. If that isn’t enough, the last portion of the song sounds like it’s underwater. What more could you want?

Lana Del Rey - “Blue Jeans (The Internet Remix)”
Just by listening to her recent remix of Lana Del Rey‘s single “Blue Jeans,” you can tell that Odd Future‘s Syd Tha Kid is one of the most chill producers working in rap right now. Forming one half of The Internet with fellow Odd Future producer Matt Martians, Syd‘s remix complements Lana Del Rey‘s sugary sweet vocals with a sleepy beat that chugs along like a steam engine. Add in some ethereal synths, and it’s golden:
