Yesterday it was announced that Canadian music scene veteran Brendan Canning will score The Canyons. Combine Lindsay Lohan, male porn star James Deen, and Less Than Zero author Bret Easton Ellis into a single controversial package and you’ve got The Canyons. The next directorial effort from Paul Schrader (American Gigalo) has been steeped in gossip from the beginning for its casting choices and vocal author, but now that the acclaimed (and wonderfully bearded) Broken Social Scene co-founder Brendan Canning‘s involved, you’ve officially got our attention. This won’t be the first film he’s scored - Bruce McDonald’s Trigger was his premiere effort. The Canyons is slated to describe “five twenty-somethings’ quest for power, love, sex and success in 2012 Hollywood,” and first caught the public’s eye when it gained most of its funds from Kickstarter.
