Badass Harlem rapper/singer Azealia Banks is crossing over into the fashion world as the new face of Alexander Wang‘s Fall 2012 collection, titled T by Alexander Wang. Banks can be seen in a new video teaser for the collection, set to “Van Vogue” from 1991, her debut album. In an interview with Style.com, Wang talked about collaboration with the female rapper: “She exudes a certain rawness that makes her a very unique talent,” Wang told Style. “I loved working with her on this video for T Fall 2012, and think the collaboration captures a collision of energies.”
The video’s simplistic, slick style definitely matches up with Alexander Wang‘s design aesthetic, which focuses on creating simple clothing with quality. If Azealia‘s name seems a bit familiar to you, it’s probably because of her inescapably bouncy track “212″ – which exploded on the blogosphere since its release in December 2012. Just earlier this month, she also released Fantasea, a 19-song mixtape.
