We’ve pretty much been waiting since last year for the 2012 Much Music Video Awards- and now we can’t believe they’ve come and gone! From the super fun red carpet to the much anticipated performances, we’ll be telling you our favourite moments from the show.
Red Carpet Moments:
The MMVAs are known for having one of the coolest red carpets because the celebs can choose exactly how they want to roll up to the show. As the celebs started coming in, the fans also started going crazy with all the familiar faces. Our first choice for favourite red carpet moment was definitely when Justin Bieber stepped out of the car with his little baby brother, Jaxon. It was hard to decide who was cuter between the two of them! It was nice to have Justin back home and throughout the night he definitely showed his Canadian pride! The next cool moment was when Kreesha Turner performed in the middle of the red carpet- and she was amazing! This is something you never really see at award shows, but it definitely made the red carpet a part of the whole show and not just something completely separate (like most award shows). We also loved Katy Perry and her little look-a-likes, that were sporting a different look from each of her Teenage Dream album videos. It was so hard to tell which if the girls was the cutest, between the alien, the nerd, the 80s girl or the others. This red carpet was full of cuteness and little kids all over!
Full Show:
Now for the actual show! Redfoo and Sky Blu from LMFAO hosted an award show for the first time, they it was like they’ve been doing it for ever! They were hilarious right from the sketch at the beginning all the way through to the end. They also happened to have one of the best performances of the night, singing “Party Rock Anthem”, “Champagne Showers” and “Sexy and I know it”. That performance was wild and definitely one of our favourites because it kicked off the show with lights, colours and a whole lot of crazy to get that energy up! Along with LMFAO, we thought a definite highlight was when Rico Rodriquez from TVs Modern Family came out as the ShuffleBot! We quickly saw a lot of #RICOBOT tweets all over our timeline and thought it was awesome! Even better than his ShuffleBot impression was definitely his wiggle!
Selena Gomez’s introduction with the “lost and found” and her coming to recover her shoes was definitely something funny and smart that we haven’t seen before. It was a nice little pass of the torch since she hosted last years MMVAs. Wonder what LMFAO will leave behind this year (we hope it’s that elephant speedo)! Also Darren Criss singing his own Broadway version of “Party Rock Anthem”- We think he should do his own full cover version because it was actually so good! We loved Nelly Furtado’s light up big hoop earrings and all of the hoop dancers on stage with her. She definitely proved her “Bigger The Better” theory! Ed Sheeran’s performance was calming and beautiful- he’s definitely one to keep your eye on! Hedley’s performance was brought to a whole new level of cool when the handheld fireworks were whipped out too. Katy Perry’s performance was visually stunning with her beautiful background dancers and the amazing butterfly wings. Even though her outfit looked like a bejewelled naked body, it was still pretty cool. To end the night, we FINALLY got to see Mr. Justin Bieber in action, and also performing for the first time “Around The World” and after one of our current favourites “Boyfriend”. Dressed in red and white (probably a nice little symbol for his Canadian love), he showed us his crazy dancing skills and exactly how much swag he has! We were already blown away by his rehearsal the day before, but with all the finishing touches, we think it came together amazingly!
