Album Review: Canada’s Next Teen Sensation Adriiana
17 year-old Adriiana is a teen force to be reckoned with! The Brampton native auditioned for Season 2 of YTV’s Next Star, in which she made it to the semi-finals. From then, she went back to writing mode with Murray Diagle, who she met at her guitar and piano lessons. They created the song “My Life”, produced by Vic Park. The track was added to rotation at may Top 40 stations across Canada and ultimately led to her signing with Canadian indie label Wax Records.
Adriiana’s self-titled debut album definitely caters to teens, with her pop-dance sounds and lyrics about love, and being young and carefree. Her single “We Are Young” samples Pat Benatar’s rock anthem, “Love Is a Battlefield”, which is one our favourites off the album. The single is also the featured song in Kholé and Lamar’s season 2 promo. “Dancing in London”, “Love Alive” and “My Life” are perfect tracks for people to dance to, with that “dance like no one’s watching” attitude while her softer tracks, “Mr. Wrong” and “If Only” are great tunes to sit back and relax to.
Overall, the songs will have you dancing and/or head bopping before you know it. It’s no doubt that Adriiana is a star to be, and this album proved it! Be on the look out for her as she will be touring across Canada later this year. To check out the album on iTunes, CLICK HERE.
